A while back I recorded a bunch of backing tracks with real musicians - these for playing along with common Arabic rhythms, with qanun and bass accompaniment in the most common keys and tempos. While there are a bunch of “drum machine” type accompaniments available, they are mostly static loops and lack the dynamic feeling of playing with real musicians.
I'll be sharing them on this playlist, frequently updated. They all features a real Arabic rhythm section in various grooves, keys and tempos to practice with!
Of course since these are recordings the musicians can't interact with you, but I find that they still provide a much more enjoyable and “realistic” experience compared to loops. They vary the intensity and complexity in a way that is much more organic and inspiring to play with. All the musicians who contributed are really excellent professionals, so you get the experience of playing with a real solid rhythm section.
You can use these backing tracks to practice taqasim ala wahda (on the beat) or just general exercises.
